A study published in the International Journal of General Medicine, found that the combined impact of low-level laser therapy and moderate-intensity aerobic exercises improves the cognitive function and quality-of-life of Alzheimer’s patients. The results included a decrease in patient BMI and waist to hip ratio.

It also found light therapy increased skeletal muscle mass and promoted positive changes in the metabolic profile.
Researchers have also demonstrated that red light therapy can prevent muscle soreness and improve performance, which means more workload capacity, fatigue resistance, and exercise recovery. One study found that athletes were able to perform nearly 30 percent more weighted leg extension reps and had significantly lower lactic acid levels after receiving just a couple of minutes of red light therapy.
